Strategic Technology Development, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control

Mark D. Stephen leads Strategic Technology Development, with specific emphasis on space sensors, tactical infrared sensors and laser weapon systems, for Sensors and Global Sustainment at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando, Florida.

Mr. Stephen has extensive experience leading strategic planning, technology development and program management in the Department of Defense and industry. At Lockheed Martin he lead capture activities for laser weapons and space sensors; and Army Science & Technology development for Advanced Programs and Applied Research. He also worked at General Atomics as Director of Strategic Development for Lasers & Advanced Concepts and at L3 Coleman Aerospace as Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Director of Procurement & Contracts, Ethics Officer and General Manager.

During his 28 years in the Air Force, Colonel Mark Stephen served as the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Science, Technology and Engineering in the Pentagon, Chief of the Air Force Science and Technology Division, Acting Director of the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate, Executive Director of the Central Measurement and Signatures Intelligence Technology Coordination Office for the Defense Intelligence Agency, Chief of the Optical Sensing Division at Phillips Laboratory, Military Science Advisor to General Normal Schwarzkopf at U.S. Central Command during DESERT STORM, Chief of Satellite Technology at Space & Missile Systems Center and Associate Professor of Physics at the U.S. Air Force Academy. 

Mr. Stephen holds a B.S. Degree in Physics from the University of South Carolina, a M.S. Degree in Engineering Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and numerous acquisition and professional development certifications.
